Costa Rica offers more than the regular beach vacation; it is also one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world. The country’s national motto Pura Vida (pure life) is exemplified almost everywhere - from warm and friendly people to tranquil beaches to massive volcanoes and abundant rainforests, Costa Rica is a nature-lover’s dream. Tortuguero in Costa Rica is also the only place in the world where the endangered green turtle lays its eggs.

Some local handicrafts that would make for unique souvenirs and interesting gifts are the alpaca wool sweaters, Indian masks and jewelries. Exploring the ancient Incan civilization is just one of the activities tourists can engage in, but travelers need some time to adjust though. With an altitude of 12,900 feet, travelers wishing to do some exploring need to eat light and be well-hydrated before heading off; another thing to remember is to dress in layers. Although it may look unlikely, the weather in Peru can change dramatically from one destination to another.
- Australia and New Zealand. Winter in the United States is summertime in Australia and New Zealand. Travelers can explore a lot of ground in these regions, ranging from the warmest climates of the Outback and Cairns, to the cooler temperatures of Melbourne.
