Numerous tourist destinations around the world are now friendly to gays. Popular spring break destinations like the Caribbean, Mexican and US beach resorts are no exception. Check out our recommended locations for an exciting spring break vacation.

Acapulco, Mexico. Acapulco is renowned for its fantastic beaches, active nightlife and numerous attractions. For budget travelers, this is one of the best places to spend your vacation because of the city’s cheap and friendly ambience. You can go around the place for a day at only $30, stay at budget accommodations near the beach at only $15 a night and go to the party area by taxi at only $1. Acapulco is jampacked every March when college students are on their spring holiday. During this time, the beaches and nightclubs along the Costera (Acapulco’s main strip) are filled with students wanting to have the best vacation with their friends. The city also offers various attractions ranging from the wildlife and gardens to the theaters and art galleries. Shopping can be done at the open-air markets while authentic Mexican food can be experienced at numerous restaurants. After the sun sets, gay students can definitely enjoy Acapulco’s nightlife at various nightclubs and bars.

Daytona Beach, Florida. Daytona Beach is said to be the original spring break spot in the world. Situated on Florida’s east coast and about 60 miles from Disney World, a spring break vacation on this beach is inexpensive and best for students. The young vacationers can definitely have a great time at the parties offered by hotels and bars. The best area to stay is near SeaBreeze Avenue, considered the main strip.

Cancun, Mexico. Cancun is another famous tourist destination of Mexico and the world’s biggest spring break location. Each year, more than 300,000 college students from the United States troop to this place during their school holiday to enjoy non-stop parties and a memorable vacation with friends. Celebrities are also regular visitors to Cancun. Activities to be experienced there include snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, water skiing, sailing, deep sea fishing, golf and jungle tours, among many others. For those who love the nightlife, Cancun’s biggest clubs to go to include Pat O’Brien’s, La Boom, Dady’O, Dady Rock, Senor Frogs, Margaritaville, Life, Coco Bongo and Bulldogs. Accommodations also vary depending on your budget. There are cheap hotels available just near the beach or you can opt for the all-inclusive resorts.

South Beach, Florida. South Beach in Miami, Florida is also a favorite spring break destination. College students on a holiday can enjoy the sand and sun in the Art Deco district of the beach which is frequented by models, celebrities and musicians. Dining is best at trendy restaurants while nightclubs, bars and discos provide non-stop partying for the young vacationers. Experience the thrill of water sports, get your tan on the beach and check out the Versace mansion nearby.

Key West. This place is called the headquarters for gay spring break as it offers an atmosphere that is friendly to all kinds of gender. Gay students can check out the bars along Duval Street which are always filled to the brim. Key West’s beaches are best for swimming and snorkeling while the coral reefs under the waters provide one of the world’s best site for scuba diving.

If you’ve had a your fill of typical spring break vacations at the beach, doing road trips or even taking intercontinental flights to other countries, then why not consider a different sort of spring break vacation where half the fun is in the journey? On your next spring break, why don’t you hop aboard one of the many cruises now available in the travel market? Cruises to the hottest destinations are now a viable option for spring breakers who want to try an alternative that is both exciting and new.

While traveling by land towards your chosen spring break location has its advantages such as travel costs being kept down to the minimum, the long drive is often seen as a turnoff for those who would rather spend their time lounging around their chosen spot on the beach instead of sitting in the car for hours on end. Air travel is often the quickest way but is sometimes way too pricey when your chosen destinations are quite far from where you are. Now, imagine if you could party while on your way to your spring break destination. Wouldn’t that be a nice alternative indeed?

There are generally two kinds of cruises available. The first kind is when you take a boat towards a specific destination, which is your spring break spot, where you spend the next couple of days partying, and then board your boat for the return cruise home. The second kind is where you stay on the boat for about a week as it makes the rounds of the hottest spring break spots and you party each night in a different location. Either way, you will probably enjoy the amenities offered by those cruise ships, as they are well-prepared to provide a range of entertainment options. Aside from the usual on-deck swimming pools and jacuzzis, the cruise ships offer such diverse options like a rock-climbing wall, well-equipped fitness centers, Las Vegas style gaming options, bars, live musical entertainment, and restaurants that offer gourmet-style meals.

Some of the ports of call of these cruise ships offer exciting day excursions that cater to a wide range of interests. Beach lovers will immediately take to the water in areas with attractive shorelines, as they catch up with their tan lines. Culture hunters will follow the treasures offered by souvenir shops which are sure to have something that will interest each and everyone. Party goers will definitely flock to the trendiest, hottest and most popular night spots as they try to make each party better than the one they had the night before.

Some tips when you take a cruise. If you intend to spend time in the sun, make sure you lather on the sunscreen lotion. Since the pool and the deck lounges are quite inviting, enough sunscreen will ensure that you get to enjoy the sun on your second, third, or fourth day without getting burned. Second, make a mental list of the on-board entertainment activities and try different options each day. Third, during stopovers at ports of call, make sure you know the ship’s boarding time. It is certainly easy to get carried away and not notice the time when you are enjoying yourself. Fourth, enjoy the sea breeze and let your hair fly in the wind. A cruise will certainly be the best time to do that!

Spring Break—the much awaited signal to leave school and work behind for a few weeks of unbridled partying. While, theoretically, you can spend spring break anywhere you please (the whole point of a vacation is to do whatever you feel like doing), some spots have distinguished themselves as “spring break country”.

One of them is Acapulco. This tourist destination has consistently topped the list of favorite spring break spots, mainly because of its great beaches and almost infamous party scene. Tanned bodies, scantily clad in string bikinis (or whatever’s in vogue for the moment) line the beaches, and Mexico’s reputation for being fun and carefree comes to fore. This is fiesta time, with music and bars that stay open till morning.

Acapulco also has some quieter beaches for those who’d rather have a little peace and solitude, and the villages—filled with bazaars and crafts stores— yield many treasures to take home.

Cancun is another famous Spring Break destination, with its margarita madness and wild parties. The beaches are beautiful (again, there are some quieter areas like Playa del Carmen) and for those who love outdoor sports, you can go snorkeling at Xel Ha. Visit the ruins of Unba in Tulum, just 90 miles south of Cancun. It’s best to go there very early in the morning, before the sun’s rays get too harsh.

Another popular Spring Break Destination is Negril, found in Jamaica. One reason why it makes the best of the best list is the affordable hotel rates, which can easily fit into a student’s tight budget. While the amenities aren’t that great, and some areas may not be that safe (it’s still best to stay in the tourist areas).

And of course, how can we think of Spring Break without the sunny city of Panama in Florida? Located in the west coast of Florida, this long stretch of beach (approximately 27 miles) promises gorgeous sun during the day, and cool breezes at night. The beach is known for its fantastic opportunities to go parasailing, as well as other fun water sports. Clearly, there’s more to Spring Beach than getting drunk and getting a tan. You can also visit the picturesque Shell Island, which has the most beautiful dunes and grasslands.

Also in Florida is Daytona Beach, where thousands congregate in the months of March and April to enjoy the sun and warm water. Found in the central east coast, the place is known for its boogie boarding.

If you’re not into beaches, go to Lake Havasu, located in Arizona. The very large lake, which is found in the northwest area of the state, is a camping paradise. There are also many chances to enjoy the great weather at the outdoor sports facilities, where you can choose among water skiing, jet skiing, and parasailing. The place is around four hours away from Phoenix, if you go there by car.

Another popular Spring Break destination is the Bahamas, specifically the area of Nassau. The white beach and blue water look postcard perfect, and the snorkeling doesn’t get any better. You can also visit the Straw Market, or try your luck at the casinos in Paradise Island.
