Villa Cipriani, Asolo, Italy - Travel Journal - Tuesday, October 21, 1997

An entry in the TFS Travel Journal

Ah, a nice down day. We enjoyed breakfast in our favorite charming dining room, and then Milton wandered the town to get a shave, some film, and fruit while Wendy perused the shop of one of the hotel’s sisters, admiring the lovely ceramics. We then returned to our room and did computer stuff until check out time. Drove off to to the Italian town of Gambrinus in San Polo di Piave for lunch, about 25 minutes away. The meal was ok, but didn’t live up to its hype. We had some good ravioli and lots of shrimp-like items. Dessert was a wonderful parfait with dark chocolate and pignolis.

We then drove over to the Villa Cipriani and, after chatting with Paolo and Sarah the B & R guides, we checked into our disappointingly tiny room. Very nice view of the gardens and the valley, but what a rip-off this place is! We checked into switching to a bigger room, but will have to wait until tomorrow morning to see.

Milton then finally had his long-awaited massage, which ended up being sufficient and certainly adequately mentholated. Meanwhile, Wendy hung out in a charming anteroom catching up on her paperwork.
